NS nonprofit, volunteer, & nonprofit social enterprise organizations supporting each other through life-changing events.
The Nova Scotia Covid Coalition’s purpose is to act as a hub to bring together sector leaders and government partners to support this vital sector during the full duration of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our goals are to:
1. Work as a hub to activate resources, facilitate connections and knowledge from across the sector, government and the private sector to meet the immediate needs of those organizations working on the frontlines
2. Work with government to inform and expedite a variety of supports for the sector; and
3. Foster innovation and bold new ideas that will create positive systemic changes in the sector over the long term.
The core members of the Nova Scotia Nonprofit COVID-19 Coalition, on behalf of our network members and nonprofit, voluntary and nonprofit social enterprises across the province, strongly condemn all forms of anti-Black racism in Nova Scotia and elsewhere. The murder of George Floyd comes on the heels of the pandemic that has disproportionately harmed Black communities. Our hearts and thoughts go out to all who are hurting from violence and racism stemming from centuries of injustice and complacency. The nonprofit sector, working in partnership with government and business, is committed to inclusion, equity and social justice. We will work to ensure the collectively we listen more, learn more, and work together to change our own practices and policies. We will challenge anti-Black racism when we see it and work to eliminate it during COVID-19 times and permanently.
